Ritual, 2020; 4k;  sound, black and white
In Ritual, the sheep farmers featured are among the last of their kind, living and working in the Caha mountains, West Cork. An observational film with an aesthetic minimalism in its use of image and sound, we witness a special intimacy between man and animal. The activity of shearing becomes ritualistic, as the shearer methodically carries out his task, holding and entrancing each sheep in succession. The ultimate reward, a valuable fleece has become obsolete in our modern world.
