A sense of place pervades Níos Doimhne, as it draws on the imagery of Irish cultural history and an inherent connection between living beings and the natural world. There is a strong psychological undercurrent and we feel the pull of familial bonds, traces of memory and the order of time. All these elements combine to weave this portrait of the turf cutter who rhythmically continues his task, doing deeper and further. An ordinarily mundane task becomes a thing of beauty.
