4k film,2022; 80 mins, colour/sound (in post-production)
Hungry Hill, directed by Mieke Vanmechelen and Michael Holly, will be more elegy than documentary, combining personal essay, moving image, sound and archive material. The age-old and universal theme of shepherding will appear in focus, while on a deeper level this film will expand on its connotations, the idea of organic interdependence of the individual human body with the community of human and non-human life around it.

Currently in post-production, this will be an experimental non-fiction film in form and content, its intention not to analyse, but to actively produce aesthetic experience. It will contain elements of both the personal and political, speaking from a personal perspective to the consequences of unhindered industrial expansion.

Produced by Fierce Quiet Films with archive material from CINEMATEK Belgium and The Netherlands Institute for Sound & Vision. This work is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland Film Project Award.
