Bruegel and Ulenspiegel – a meeting

I was lucky to recently come into the possession of an amazing book thanks to my Aunt. The book ‘Bruegel’ (text Roger H. Marijnissen, Photography Max Seidel, Pub. Arcade Brussels, MCMLXXVII) chronicles the life of Pieter Bruegel and explains in great detail the symbolism behind some of his work. I have found references to passages of Thyl Ulenspiegel (one of the texts I am researching) and an explanation of the origins of the text during the time of the painter Bruegel. I am discovering clues and lines of connection which are sometimes uncanny.

The text is written in Old-Felmish, within the text there are French, German and English words, which makes for amusing reading.
